Same sex wedding, Oldwalls | Gemma & Harriet
After multiple postponements, Oldwalls hosted the most romantic same sex wedding celebration....
Hey, I’m Lewis — a South Wales wedding photographer with deep experience at Fairyhill, Gower.
I photograph weddings in a calm, documentary way, focusing on real moments as they naturally unfold. From the build-up before the ceremony through to the energy after the first dance, my approach is unobtrusive, attentive, and story-led — capturing emotion, atmosphere, and the people who matter most.
This page shares recent Fairyhill wedding photography I’ve photographed at the venue. If you’re planning a wedding at Fairyhill, or anywhere on the Gower, my role is simple: help you feel relaxed, supported, and present — while creating images that feel honest, timeless, and true to your day.
Most of the day I’m working documentary-style: the hugs, nerves, laughs, chaos, and the moments you didn’t even clock were happening.
When it matters, I’ll guide you — gently and clearly — so you never feel awkward or left guessing. Think: calm direction, flattering light, and portraits that still feel like you.
If you’re the kind of couple who wants to be present with your people (not pulled away for constant posing), Fairyhill is a brilliant fit for that.

The luxury venue – Oldwalls prises itself on it’s superb location, views and their first class service. Surrounded by lush woodland and a lake featuring a stunning wooded jetty from where you can watch your fireworks display in the night.
Oldwalls is situated in one of the more stunning parts of Wales, the Gower. With more rugged marsh land and coast than you can imagine. You can set the night alight, literally with your very own fireworks display. A perfect backdrop which will create the most epic and magical wedding photography to remembers, not forgetting the sunsets at Oldwalls are also fantastic.
My approach on a wedding day is to encapsulate this beauty that the venue has to offer and create a wedding gallery that leaves every jaw drop. I’ll be there to document your day, all day. No posing and no cheesiness… Just pure natural, relaxed and great fun celebrating the best days of your lives.
– K Room (ceremony + speeches): Clean lines and modern design, tons of light, and space to shoot without being intrusive, group photos are ideal in here should it rain.
– Walled garden + terrace: My favourite! Perfect for mingling candids and intimate photos without wandering miles.
– Georgian house interiors: Calm, timeless backdrops for prep details and quiet moments with friends and family.
– Grounds, woodland + lake: Ideal for a brief time for couple portraits that don’t steal you from your own day. Especially beautiful no matter the weather.
– Optional: quick beach portraits (if you want them): Rhossili Bay is close enough to be doable if we plan it properly. You’ll want to schedule 60 mins out for this, and keep your guests busy when you go.

Learn about the process
Fairyhill is tucked away in the Gower countryside, built around a Georgian house and the iconic K Room. The K Room’s glass frontage brings in loads of natural light, and the view out over the grounds makes ceremonies feel big without being overwhelming.
Outside, you’ve got the walled garden for drinks, portraits and (when it works) outdoor moments that feel private even with a full guest list. And because everything’s on site, the day flows — no “get in the car, disappear for ages, come back stressed” energy.
If you care about photos: Fairyhill is strong in every season. Bright summer greens, autumn texture, winter candlelight, and rainy-day reflections that still look intentional.
This is the sweet spot I see working again and again:
If you want beach portraits, we plan a short window and keep it tight, so you’re not away from your guests for ages.
Yes — and I approach it like a venue I know well: where the light works, where we can get quiet portraits fast, and how to keep things flowing.
Fairyhill can comfortably host up to 150 guests in the K Room. I have captured weddings with different sizes and the venue looks fantastic regardless of numbers.
Yes — there’s on-site accommodation for up to 60 guests. You can stay at their local accommodation at The Piggery, Forge and other cottages on site.
Honestly: yes. The K Room light still works, and the house gives you warm, candlelit atmosphere that photographs beautifully. Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter – It’s ideal all year round.
Absolutely — Rhossili is close, but only if you actually want it, and we plan it so it doesn’t hijack your day. But be mindful it does take 20 minutes to get there, and back and time at the coast too.
Send me your date and rough plans, and I’ll come back with availability and the best next step.
