The house
An Italianate house on the edge of Chepstow.
St Tewdrics House sits on Mathern Road, just outside Chepstow and close to the M48 and M4. It is an eighteenth-century Italianate house with a fountain on the front drive, a wildflower meadow that turns gold through the summer, and views out towards the Severn. It is yours alone for the day, so the only people you meet are the ones you invited.
Mornings happen in the house, with the staircase and the tall windows doing most of the work. Ceremonies take place on site in the ceremony room, or couples marry at a church nearby and come back for drinks on the drive. Evenings move inside for dinner and dancing, and back out to the front door for sparklers.
I have photographed more than fifteen weddings here since 2020, across the seasons. I know where the light falls on the fountain in the evening, when the meadow catches the last of the sun, and how to get everyone onto the front steps for confetti without it feeling like a drill.

01 · The morning
The staircase and the big windows.
Hair and make-up happen in the bedrooms, where the windows give soft, even light all morning. The staircase is where the dress gets its first proper look, usually with family waiting at the bottom. I photograph both without moving furniture or slowing anyone down.
02 · The ceremony
On site, or a church nearby.
Some couples marry on site, others at a church down the road and come back for drinks. Either way I work from the sides and the back, with no flash and nothing staged, then catch the walk out through your guests and the confetti on the front steps.
03 · The walk
The fountain, the meadow, the gazebo.
Twenty minutes while your guests have drinks on the drive. Past the fountain, out into the meadow and round by the gazebo. If the evening is clear we go out again for ten minutes at golden hour. That is where most of the pictures on this page come from.
04 · The evening
Speeches, the dance floor, sparklers.
Dinner and speeches inside, then the band or the DJ. I stay through the first dance and well into the night, and when the sparklers come out at the front door I am still there for the last one.

Getting there
Just over the bridge
St Tewdrics is on the edge of Chepstow, close to the M48 and the M4, and an easy drive from both Cardiff and Bristol. Travel is included, so there is no mileage on the invoice and no late arrival.
Weather
The house is the wet-weather plan
The staircase, the tall windows and the ceremony room all photograph well without a step outside. If the rain eases for ten minutes, the fountain and the meadow after a shower are worth the dash.
Timings
The last hour before sunset
The meadow and the fountain are at their best in the final hour of light. I will build a short walk into your timeline so you are back with your guests before anyone notices you were gone.

Is there a travel charge for St Tewdrics House?

Can we have portraits in the meadow and still be at dinner on time?
Yes. The fountain, the meadow and the gazebo are all a short walk from the front door. I plan twenty minutes into your timeline with the venue so it fits between drinks and being called through.
We are marrying at a church first. Is that a problem?
Not at all. I cover the church, travel with you, and am on the drive at St Tewdrics when you arrive. Jess and Tom did exactly that.
Will you film the day too?
Yes. Many couples book photography and film together. One calm presence, one approach, and a short film alongside the full gallery. How photo and film work together.
How long until we see our photographs?
A set of previews within a day or two, and the full gallery of 500 or more edited images within four weeks. Films follow within eight.
