Spring wedding on Lake in Cardiff | Caz & David
Caz & David had their Canada Lodge & Lake Wedding photography last weekend! The sun was shining all day, the smell of fresh cut grass and the perfumed scent of flowers in the air. I arrived at Caz’s parents home where the bride was getting ready along with her bridesmaids. I always enjoy visiting couples homes as I really get to see their life story by means of timeless pictures of the family growing up, decorated proudly on the walls around their home. Caz & I were in Air cadets together around our teens so it was an honor to be asked to photograph her wedding!
The ceremony was held at St Davids church where the bridal party arrived via traditional wedding cars. David and his best men, along with their guests were waiting inside the church… The chords played out and the bride was led into the church by her bridesmaids with dad in hand. Songs sung, vows exchanged Mr & Mrs Morse were married!
It was onto Canada Lodge & Lake then for their reception, the fountain shooting into the sky over the lake and trees reflecting into the still waters. Canada Lodge is one of my absolute favorite venues as it’s nestled away so well, you’d be forgiven for thinking it wasn’t just outside Cardiff. Certainly one of the most scenic venues in South Wales.
The day continued with the throwing of confetti on arriving, garden games and of course the wedding breakfast! We had an opportunity to sneak off away from the guests for their portrait session along the lake’s edge. Neither Caz or David are fans of the camera (very few couples look forward to it). I ensured that by going for a short stroll along the bank of the venue as a newly married couple alone, I could capture some stunning photos of them naturally and making sure they felt comfortable the whole time…
The party shortly got well underway and the rest of the night ensued with a stunning first dance to Eva Cassidy – songbird.
