Wedding Photography at Hensol Castle | Zoe & Matthew
Zoe & Matthew had their gorgeous wedding at Hensol Castle in May and what a celebration it was. The weather was glorious with a stunning sunset to top it off and the best sparkler send off perfectly ending their wedding!
Zoe & Matthew initially got in touch over a year and a half. From the moment they helped me to realise their vision for their Hensol Castle wedding I was super excited. We’ve stayed in touch regularly throughout the planning stages sharing ideas and suggestions. It’s been an absolute pleasure getting to know both Zoe and Matthew over this stage and especially on their pre-wedding photo session at Three Cliffs Bay in the Gower a few months back (When summer seemed to have come early, but short lived).
After months of planning the day was here! I joined Zoe during her bridal preparations surrounded by her bridesmaids and parents in the Vale Resort. Matt was getting ready down the road in their home with the guys… and their cats. It was promising to be a fantastic clear and warm day, ideal wedding weather. There was some lovely little touches through the morning too; Zoe’s dad helped put her shoes on and drove her around to Hensol Castle for the ceremony in his Range Rover. Tons of laugher and fun between the girls too. Always great vibe to have in the morning for sure.
I think the couple had literally thought of every detail, the venue was decorated perfectly and there wasn’t a corner that hadn’t been decorated. Being big fans of horse racing. The table plans were centred around race courses. My personal favourite – Matt had thought up a jokey name for every single guest, including their own jersey for the table plan. Of course, it wouldn’t be complete without the touches of Zoe’s collection of Emma Bridgewater flower vases and wedding mugs.
Their wedding Reception and Evening Sparklers
I absolutely love a summer wedding; Zoe & Matthew’s wedding at Hensol Castle was absolutely everything it’s all about. Family time, friends celebrating and having a great time and topping it off with gorgeous light and stunning backdrops… Hensol Castle seems to have it all!
We headed down to the Jetty, a classic spot for wedding portraits for 30 mins to get some formal but certainly relaxed photos of the couple having some time out. I am always particular about not getting involved with much direction – It’s a wedding not a photo shoot! But by doing this they get to have a relaxing few minutes alone away from their guests to compose and take it all in. Scroll down to see them.
The other highlight of the day was their first dance and of course, THAT sparker shot! It’s always a little tricky to get semi and fully intoxicated guests to help create a magical scene which needs good timing and hope that all sparklers light around the same time… It did and it was incredible! What a way to end the night and their wedding at Hensol…
