My approach
I’m Lewis, a documentary wedding photographer and filmmaker. A marquee at home is a wedding built by family. The garden someone has tended for thirty years, the field borrowed from a neighbour, the kitchen full of people at nine in the morning.
I photograph all of it quietly, from the tent going up to the last song. I stay late, because the best part of a marquee wedding is usually after dark.
Full-day coverage runs well into the evening dancing.
Full day from £2,600, travel included across most of the UK.
Recent weddings

A village church, then a tipi in the fields, hay bales, a Morris Minor and a dance floor that never emptied.

A sailcloth tent on the lawn at Parc le Breos on the Gower, with festoon lights and a late, loud evening.

Dinner under the sky on a Santorini clifftop. The same approach works anywhere there’s a long table outside.
Planned for
Weather
We agree a wet-weather version of the day in advance. Umbrellas, the tent doorway and the house all make lovely photographs.
Light
White canvas softens daylight beautifully. After dark I work with your festoons and candles, adding a little light only when it helps.
Logistics
I talk to your planner or marquee company about timings and power, and I need very little: a dry corner and a meal.

I also film. Speeches in the tent and the first dance under the lights, from the same person who photographs them.
Photography and filmKind words
“He’s so organised, it’s great knowing there’s one less thing you have to worry about.”
“We also couldn’t believe just how long Lewis stayed, he was on the dance floor far later than we imagined.”
Good to know
Yes. Tipis in Wiltshire and South Wales, sailcloth tents on the Gower and marquees on family farms. Every one is different, which is part of the appeal.
Then we use the tent, the house and the umbrellas, and the photographs often feel more alive for it. I plan a wet-weather version of the day with you in advance.
My cameras work beautifully in festoon and candlelight. On the dance floor I add a little off-camera light so the atmosphere is kept, never flattened.
Until the dance floor is in full swing, usually 9 to 10pm. If you’d like the last dances too, extra time can be added.
Just somewhere dry to leave a bag and a socket for an hour while you eat. I’ll mention it to your planner or marquee company.
Yes, and it’s one of my favourite days. I photograph the service, go ahead to the house and I’m in the garden when you arrive.
