Hensol Castle Wedding photography Cardiff | Ellie & Ryan
Ellie & Ryan got married at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church and had their reception at the fantastic Hensol Castle wedding venue amongst their friends and family with the most perfect summer weather.
Ellie & Ryan celebrated their wedding in style recently at the most stunning Hensol Castle wedding venue near The Vale Resort. Such a perfect day with it all starting at the salon where the girls all had their make-up and hair done ahead of the wedding.
For those who haven’t been to a wedding at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church they should at least pop their head in. Located deep in Pontcanna, Cardiff it’s a hidden gem. With it’s grand architecture and perfect acoustics, It’s why I was absolutely delighted to document their ceremony there. Ellie & Ryan had a traditional catholic ceremony with one of the groomsmen on guitar for one of the songs. With the cars waiting outside and the vows exchanged it was onto Hensol Castle for the new Mr & Mrs Mayo!
The opportunity of the small jetty onto the large lake besides the castle is not one to avoid. Stunningly picturesque and quiet, a perfect place for Ellie & Ryan to have their wedding photography portraits in the golden summer sun. With the wedding breakfast looming, it was important for me to allow Ellie & Ryan a little time out as they take in the celebrations alone as they strolled along the edge of the lake. I always try to document this poetic moment and give the justice it deserves. These moments are one of the main parts of the day. With the light breeze tickling the branches above and the light ripple on the lake I knew these moments were pretty epic!
The wedding breakfast was very emotional, with speeches read by each of the wedding party in turn. It’s difficult to photograph the context and to understand the moment without words but somehow I find moments like these speak differently, capturing the love and emotion instead as they are expressed on their faces. I find it absolutely beautiful to document as it’s always such an intimate moment.
Their evening reception was soon approaching and so all guests vacated to the lawn and lounge areas. The bridal party all went for a walk along the edge of the lake, the sky at this point looked incredible. The room was turned around and guests were re-welcomed in to start the official partying! Woo! Cutting of the cake, sliced and the first dance between Ellie & Ryan started to the loud applause of their guests to officially start the dance floor shenanigans, there were many…
