Cardiff Wedding photography | Canada Lodge wedding | Amy & Terry
A wedding day in all its entirety is beautiful, it’s raw and it is personal. Amy & Terry’s Canada Lodge wedding was no exception. In fact, it blew the roof and socks off, especially when Terry the groom sang live for their guests…
With summer still at its peak late September. Nestled in the heart of Cardiff is a personal, intimate and unique venue, Canada Lodge & Lake. The Lodge hosted the wedding ceremony & reception of Amy & Terry underneath gorgeous weather and towering trees and in front of all of their friends and family.
I started the day at the bridal party, documenting the bride and her bridesmaids getting ready at Amy’s mums home. With 7 Bridesmaids it was a bit of a party already and great fun as they all had their hair & make-up done as the ceremony drew ever closer.
With the groomsmen and Terry in place at the ceremony, the bride arrived by means of a golf caddy, where Jamie (Amy’s brother in law), was to walk her down the aisle in absence of her dad who sadly passed away a few years before. There was a marvellous reading by the brides mum which was rather moving and read so beautifully about the tales of the couple until this day. I think everyone felt the sincerity and personal words of her reading during the ceremony. The venue seemed to enjoy it too with the brief calling out of the fire alarm!
Canapés, alcohol and a lot of amazement and confusion by means of a magician were all served under the last of the glorious summer sunshine. They also had 2 of their friends casually singing songs with a guitar on the balcony… seriously the atmosphere was just perfect! It set the tone for us to skip off for a few minutes to capture some special moments between the couple along the tree line at the wedding venue. Sometimes a couple pass in front of the camera who just do their thing and it’s gorgeous to capture… Amy & Terry were this couple!
The guests were called for the beginning of the rest of the reception and speeches. The groom had gifted their guests with his own made “Merry Terry’s Marmalade” and some super hot spice too, for those who dare try it. There was a special appearance from Pixie Lott too who Amy the bride idolises and adores, Jamie had managed to arrange a personal message from her who wished to meet Amy one day too… Of course this certainly raised the roof. Then again, One of the best men raised it again with the unique and rare talent of playing the kazoo, getting the guests very excited for the evening – I still can’t get the tune out of my head even after a month.
The groom arranged to play a half hour set of his favourite songs, mainly Queen classics which was insanely amazing! This guy is a performer and he sure had raised the roof even further if it was at all possible. I felt like I was part of an intimate gig, amongst all of their guests, squished together having the best time! What a great experience that was…
