South Wales wedding venues – part two
Continuing on from part one of the wedding venues i’d love to photograph here is the next 6 incredible wedding venues that I would be honoured to photograph.
There are wedding venues and then there is this, wedding venue – Fonmon castle really does go above and beyond – Dedicated wedding coordinator to support you through the planning of your wedding and entire day to ensure that your wedding runs smoothly. The venue rolls out a red carpet on arrival at the venue to make each guest feel like a true star, not only that they will also go to the trouble to fly your national flag from the castle towers, what away to make you feel that for one whole day, that castle is yours… I want a flag flying for my visit! The grounds of Fonmon Castle are also impressive, a plethora of well kept colourful shrubs, bushes and trees not to mention the eye catching ivy that grows over the entire building turning the whole building into a red fortress, there is literally no area of the grounds that doesn’t make for incredible wedding photography!
How many wedding venues can boast of a sea view? The West Usk Lighthouse being one of them of course! I must confess I do have a soft spot for lighthouses and the coast. This wedding venue is a more intimate wedding venue due to only being a 20 guest capacity, the lighthouse in fact is a B & B but doubles up as a wedding venue, giving that cottage feeling, the warm welcome is apparent almost instantly. Surrounding are fields and a sea, so there is never any issue regards to noise, go ahead, party hard, did I mention it has a sea view hot tub! Viewing this venue is a must especially if you have a small group of guests!
Getting married in a museum, how damn cool! Which century would you like your photos with? Really, take your pick! From early neolithic clay roundhouses through to victorian grocery stores and even 18th a century school. The list is endless of potential photography scenes, there is so much fun to be had that’s for sure, if that’s not your thing what about the fantastically kept vast gardens or inside the St Fagins Castle itself, the list is near enough endless! The ceremony room of the castle hall is rich in history sporting a deep rich wood decor to make any wedding feel as though it’s writing it’s own history. If there are two things that most interest me, they are photography and history, that’s why this venue is on my list, I would even be tempted to offer my wedding photography services for free if the opportunity arose!
If you want glitz & glamour, the best service in the entire world – the towering stature of the Celtic Manor purchased on the edge of Newport is the place to hold your wedding or any event, Golf tournaments, NATO conferences, A-List celebrity get aways it truly is the place to be, especially if you fancy potentially rubbing noses with the rich, glamorous and famous! There is no exception with their weddings, with a choice of 4 on site venues, yes that’s right, there is plenty to choose from, not to mention each package offers a complementary stay on the first anniversary of your wedding.
The Manor House – ‘History, charm and bags of character, this beautiful 19th century country house has it all, from the grand wooden staircase or the period charm of Hedleys to romantic four-poster bedrooms’.
The Twenty Ten Clubhouse – ‘This luxurious clubhouse was built to host the world’s greatest golfers at The 2010 Ryder Cup and takes full advantage of its elevated position overlooking the 18th green of the prestigious Twenty Ten’.
Celtic Manor Golf Club – ‘The Resort’s largest clubhouse is a relaxed retreat with a distinctly Canadian feel and spectacular golf course views’.
The Resort Hotel – ‘The soaring atrium, distinctive design and traditional luxury of the Resort Hotel combine to create a feeling of understated glamour that is both impressively opulent, yet comfortably relaxed’.
Whether planning a large or small wedding and reception, something simple, extravagant or even a bit out of the ordinary, that’s right Court Coleman are outstanding hosts to just about everything… Did you know that they have welcomed a numberous of film sets including the hit tv show BBC Sherlock featuring Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman and me… not to side track from such a fantastic venue, one of the reasons this venue is on the list is for the fact that I have been here with 4 different productions such as Dr Who, Sky1 Stella and snooker TV drama Rack pack! It is a brilliant wedding venue especially to photograph at, the fountain, low swinging trees, the stair case, gardens, river even a small waterfall! I feel a sense of peace with each visit, perhaps it is to do with their ever expanding list of outstanding reviews and high level of hospitality, only a short drive away from the local beach, this is the venue that just keeps on giving.
Possibly one of my favourites of the entire list, why? ‘Recognised as the Best Wedding Venue in Wales, and as such, one of the UK’s leading luxury wedding venues. Award-winning venue, located in beautiful Gower, South Wales’. Offering many options of accommodation from a private honeymoon suite that offers a jacuzzi (a detail I really like), luxury rooms and suits for guests or what about tents? You will find ten state-of-the-art bell tents, sleeping up to twenty guests and fusing the romance and thrill of camping with all of the facilities you would expect to find in a boutique hotel. Seriously Old Walls really want to be recognised as the best and unique wedding venue in Wales, they certainly are doing just that, not to mention it’s in the centre of one of the most beautiful parts of Wales, arguably the world, Gower, South Wales, which happens to be my favourite place in Wales, not only is the wedding venue surrounded by coastline (short drive in any direction) it also has the vast commons, hills and even the odd fort or ruin surrounding too! I seriously can’t wait to photograph here, I may even stay in one of their tents for the night!
